You need to choose an appropriate title for your story as well as a ‘Tag line’: a descriptive phrase or sentence about your story that will catch a reader’s attention. The ‘Tag line’ can be crucial in getting readers to open your story, so be sure on consider this information carefully. If you are posting an erotic poem or flash fiction (very short erotica) you will want to include this information in the tag line.
Stories can also be submitted through email. Please send via email in a file attachment only. Stories pasted into the body of an email will not be considered. Send emails to: editor@freeeroticstoriessite.com but you must be registered on the site as an author
Please name your file with the story name.
Include at the top of the story:
1) Your name (optional)
2) Your penname
3) Your email address
4) Story title
5) What genre of erotica is included (i.e. spanking, femdom, M/f bdsm, general etc.)
6) Tag line as described above
All manuscripts must be submitted via email must be Word files (.doc), text files (.txt) or Rich Text Files (.rtf). If your story uses bolds or italics, you will need to submit it as a .doc or .rtf. DO NOT submit .docx files.
NOTE: Stories submitted via email will take longer to post than those submitted through your on-line account.
STORY LENGTH:
We are accepting short stories of roughly 1,000-4000 in length.
Stories longer than 4,000 words should be broken down into chapters with each chapter submitted individually. (Note: the site allows you to link serialized stories)
We also accept quality Flash Fiction (under 1000 words) and poetry. Flash Fiction and Poetry should be submitted to the category that most reflects the content. If a story is Flash or Poetry, that information should be indicated in the tag line.
FORMATTING YOUR STORY FOR SUBMISSION:
The automated submission feature allows you to cut and paste your story on-line. You can choose a type font from those suggested as well as add special formatting, such as bold and italics.
Please break your story into reasonably sized paragraphs. Reading on a screen is different from reading from a book or magazine, as the flicker from computer monitors is tiring on the eye. Excessively long paragraphs are hard on readers’ eyes. For the same reason, we also recommend that you use double space between your paragraphs.
Be sure to run your manuscript through a spell checker and then read it over for anything the spellchecker missed before submitting. (note: a spellchecker will not correct for correctly spelled words that are used incorrectly: example: it’s instead of its.) This should eliminate one of the major errors that might cause a manuscript to be rejected.
Note: it is not uncommon for erotic fiction to include made-up words or derivatives of known words that might be rejected by a spell checker. As long as these words make sense within the context of a story, they will be allowed.
We expect submissions to come to us ready for the public. Stories with obvious spelling and grammatical errors are poorly received by readers. Even spell-checking your work with a software program can make the difference in whether readers like or dislike your work.
No HTML links or web addresses are allowed within stories, unless approved by the editors.
COPYRIGHT INFORMATION:
Manuscripts are copyrighted in the name of the author. This means you must be the author of any story you submit.
Copyright law states that as soon as you write a work of fiction (or non-fiction), your work is copyright protected.
As the author, you retain rights to your stories and are free to post them elsewhere on the Internet.
Any posted story can be removed from our website through your on-line account. Don’t think authors have rights to remove stories but they can request
***Free Erotic Stories Site and Pink Flamingo Publications cannot protect authors from copyright infringement that could result from posting your work to the Free Erotic Stories Site.
WRITING RECOMMENDATIONS AND RESOURCES:
We expect cleanly written, edited manuscripts. Small errors will be corrected. We reserve the right to make those editorial changes to a story that we feel are necessary to enhance the quality of the work.
We recommend after writing your story that you put it aside for a few hours, or even a day or two, then come back later and reread to check for errors in grammar, punctuation and spelling that you may have missed the first time.
Strunk & White’s Elements of Style can be used as a general guideline for grammar. Check this link http://www.bartleby.com/141/
The rules for punctuating conversation are very specific and easy to follow. If you have any questions, the following is a handy reference:

THE APPROVAL PROCESS:
All stories require the approval of the webmaster before they are posted.
How quickly stories are approved for posting depends on the number of stories awaiting approval. We will consider stories in order that they are received.
Generally, authors can expect their stories posted with 3-7 days.
If there are problems with your story, or it is being rejected for any reason, you will be notified via the email address you provide in your profile.
Again, stories submitted through email will take longer than those submitted on-line.
PAYMENT:
No remuneration is paid for your stories
However, we will be offering monthly “Best Story Contests”
We will soon be posting On-line contest information.
